Our personal bios are currently being amended and will be updated soon!!

I registered as a childminder in September 2012 when I started up EllyTotts. I had previously worked in a nursery where I gained my NVQ level 3 in 'Childcare Learning and Development'. I also worked in a school as a one-to-one teaching assistant for an 8-year-old girl where I completed my Teaching Assistant NVQ, MaKaTon to level 8 and various other education courses. I then taught abroad for a year where I learnt that my passion is to educate. I thought about training to be a teacher, but decided that the British education system is too confined and wanted a way to help children learn in a more practical way. I attended the homebased childcare course, enabling me to register with Ofsted, and then started my plans to turn the old Barn into a setting thriving in ways to educate. Once I was happy with all the ways the Barn could help children learn and develop, I decided to continue my proffessional development by doing my NVQ level 5 - 'Leadership in the Children and Young People's Workforce'. I am now studying for my masters in Early Childhood Studies. I love every hands on moment with the children who attend and find their interest and enjoyment in learning so fullfilling. I love the opportunites to have fun, particularly through music and dance, and find it so rewarding watching all the children develop great confidence and character. I am now also a fully qualified swimming teacher registered with the STA, enabling us to regularly use our local pool and gain some extra swimming lessons all included in our normal hourly fee!

I have always loved, and had a strong background in looking after children. From growing up with a nursery nurse for a mum and having much younger siblings, to having had four children of my own. My children are (as of May 2017) aged 23, 20, 17 and 2, so I've gained a lot of experience and dealt with a plethora of development stages.

My first job within childcare was at the age of 18 when I looked after Elly! In addition to being a mum, when my eldest 3 children were younger I volunteered at the local Brownies and Youth Club. I also helped out at the local primary school as a teaching assistant and ran the village baby and toddler group for 11 years. When I returned to full time worked I worked in a Montessori nursery, where I ganined my Level 3 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare.

For me there is nothing more fullfilling or rewarding than looking after children. To be able to encourage and help them in all aspects of play, learning, fun and development, and to see how they grown and change into their own little characters. I can honestly say that I love my job!

I am relatively new to childcare, starting my career in this field via a childcare apprenticeship in April 2017, however I have 9 years of experience thanks to my wonderful children. My children are currently aged 9, 6 and 2 meaning I have experienced all early years stages of development, leading up to the end of key stages at school. Having a girl and 2 boys, I have a sound knowledge of the way children develop and I'm becoming a pro at helping children with potty training, learning to ride a bike, learning to write their names and developing my own skills at multitasking! I really enjoy being around children, I like to see them grow and develop into their own little person.

I am new to childcare with this being my first job in the trade. I am currently employed at Ellytotts as a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner apprentice. I have been around kids most of my life with having two younger brothers and also lots of younger family members. I have always enjoyed playing with and looking after children. I enjoy watching them learn and develop new skills. I also really enjoy watching them grow into their own person and develop their own personalities

I have worked in numerous childcare settings. From leaving college in 2008 I went straight into teaching at an SEN school in Boston Spa, where I worked alongside the teachers, supporting children with learning, physical and behavioural difficulties from the ages of 3 to 18 years old. I got as much experience as a TA over a year, before I trained to be an Intervenor for deaf/blind children and young adults. I specialised teaching young adults to use a cane, learn braille and BSL, and live as independently as they can. I became the youngest accredited intervenor in yorkshire in 2009, and continued working in the school setting until 2011. I am now cacin crew, but also work alongside the team at Elly-Totts 2 days a week. Over the years it has been a pleasure watching different children grow and develop, and I have great job satisfaction being part of it.

I have worked in childcare for over 35 years in a variety of positions and settings ranging from hospitals to schools and most recently nurseries. I am currently the general manager of a nursery in York 4 days a week and use my 5th day and evenings to help around the Barn.

I registered as a childminder in January 2016 so that my support to the Barn could be more permanent.

The years of experience I have from both working in childcare and being a parent myself ensure I bring a variety of activities and ideas to the table.
